All smartphones with Android OS sends Google information about your location
Who would not say that about confidentiality of the personal information in the modern world of digital technology the notion of security of such information very vague. Social networks, instant messengers, smart phones, cameras, fingerprint scanners and voice recognition systems of individuals — all it at desire can be used off-label.
And the company is doing. The misuse of confidential user data in recent years have caught many different manufacturers, not to mention the state structures.
At the center of another such scandal could be Google. According to the source, the Android smartphones of the search giant sends data about its location even when the corresponding function is disabled in the settings. To be precise, they do it whenever there is Internet access.
The source claims that since the beginning of this year, all smartphones with Android constantly collect the addresses of the cell towers that connect to, and then send it to Google. This means that Google has sufficiently detailed data about the movements of billions of people!
Unlike many other companies, Google immediately commented on the results of the investigation. The representative of the search giant said that the data about cell towers do transmitted to company through the system responsible for the push notifications, but they supposedly never to be used or stored on the servers.
Google their behavior explained by study of the possibilities to improve the system of notification delivery. However, what does this have to do with the cell IDs of the towers is unclear. The company promised to change the system configuration so that data on the movement of users is not applied to the servers.
It is unfortunate that all these technologies are used not in order to improve, for example, the safety of people. After all, if they have data about the movement, in fact, almost everyone (do not take into account countries with a very low level of development), this information could be used in criminal investigations. But for several reasons soon to do that, no one will.
