Apple intentionally cut support for Portrait Light from an iPhone 7 Plus?
One of the main features of the new generation of dual cameras, Apple has been Light Portrait mode that extends the portrait mode, effects of different directions of light.
Unfortunately, the iPhone 7 Plus did not get these features with iOS 11, and it was concluded that this feature is hardware, but developer Steve Trouton Smith (Steve Troughton-Smith) put it in doubt. He conducted an experiment during which made the iPhone 7 Plus in portrait mode, sent it to iPhone X AirDrop, where he used the Stage Light (simultaneously adjusting the metadata of the picture) and returned to the iPhone 7 Plus.
What was his surprise when at last year’s gadget he saw the interface Portrait Light. This allowed him to conclude that the Portrait Light: «100% software thing. iPhone 7 Plus could do.» But it does not! Perhaps Apple will add this feature in a future update, but for now will have to settle for exclusivity of the iPhone line 2017.
