Apple is trying to create a closed loop production, recycling old eletronico
Apple is trying to change the method of processing of recyclable electronics using a special robotic mechanism to retrieve materials from used devices for their further use in creating new products. However, it is clear that due to the growing demand for electronics, the need for minerals extraction and new natural materials will not disappear.
The California company claimed that robotic line for recycling old electronics, called Daisy, which operates in Texas, is part of Apple’s transformation into a manufacturer’s «closed loop» does not depend on the mining industry.
A very ambitious goal, which, according to some analysts, is unattainable. The CEOs are confident that with the growth in global demand for electronics and electric vehicles the volume of consumption of minerals will continue to grow.
As for the robotic line Daisy, it is used for recycling and extracting from an old iPhone 14 components: lithium, aluminum, cobalt, etc. During normal operation, the conveyor may be disassembled to iPhone 200 per hour. Representatives of the company noted that the iPhone was the first product of the company, the disposal of which is carried out using a robotic line Daisy, because of its mass popularity.
Apple already uses alloys from recycled metals in some of their products and plans to expand this list in the future. In addition, Apple does not exclude the fact that it would share the technology to create a pipeline for the automatic dismantling of waste electronics from other companies, including automakers.
