Apple’s suppliers in China want to resume production on 10 February
Despite the outbreak of a new strain of coronavirus and the restrictions on the movement of people, the main suppliers of Apple in China, including the manufacturer of iPhones, Hon Hai Precision Industry, better known as Foxconn, plans to resume full production on February 10.
Foxconn said Tuesday that he still expects to be able to restart the enterprise throughout China in accordance with the schedule, according to Bloomberg News. Other suppliers, including Quanta Computer Inc., Inventec Corp. LG Display Co., also said that will resume in China next week.
Although Chinese officials and the company set the task to resume work in most parts of the country February 10, in the last days are growing doubts about this date as the death toll from the virus is increasing, and many workers were in municipal detention facilities under the quarantine. In addition, severely limited the movement of people and goods. At the moment the number of people infected with coronavirus has exceeded 20 000 people and killed more than 400 people.
Foxconn produces smartphones in the so-called iPhone in Zhengzhou City, and Pegatron — Assembly complex near Shanghai. These production facilities are located more than 500 kilometers from Wuhan, the epicenter of the viral outbreak.
Directly from Apple in China, there are about 10 000 employees in the retail and corporate divisions. And its supply chain employs over a million workers engaged in the Assembly of devices such as iPad, iPhone and Apple Watch.
