British chart: any new games in the top 40
As soon as 2019 draws to its end, the list of best-selling games in the UK starts to meet the usual new year’s eve formula, in which the lead of the annual bestsellers and major launches last quarter. The biggest exception on this week were racing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe two years ago, who jumped from 7th place to 3rd with 29 percent sales growth. This is partly due to the new kit, which includes the game along with the updated model of the Nintendo Switch.
The top ten best sellers last week in the UK games included as many as 4 project Nintendo: Pokemon Sword at the 5th place, Luigi’s Mansion 3 on the 7th and Pokemon Shield on the 10th. sales of games of the Pokemon series has decreased by 41 %, and Luigi’s Mansion 3 — only 8 %. In fact, the only game whose sales increased last week was Just Dance, with growth of 16 %. Driving it steel versions for the Switch and the Wii (Yes, the original Wii), but not the versions for PS4 and Xbox One.
The success of Mario Kart pushed the Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order on the 4-th place and 20 FIFA and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare reversed, despite the fall in sales of 38% and 36%, respectively. Sea of ??Thieves fell four positions to 8th place, while Minecraft for Xbox failed on the ninth. Interestingly, among the 40 best-selling games was not a new one.
