Chrome Canary on Android received support for Google Assistant
A few days ago it became known that Google is working to make a Google Assistant Chrome browser on Android. This will allow the web browser to directly work with the voice assistant. The latter will take in the Omnibox of the browser. At the moment this feature is already available in Chrome Canary, but about the timing of exit opportunities in the release does not say.
To activate the Assistant in the browser you must navigate to chrome://flags, find the flag Omnibox Voice Assistant, activate it and restart the browser.
As a result Google Omnibox Assistant will replace the built-in Android voice search. Thus, he will be responsible for all voice requests in the browser. And the old microphone icon in the Chrome address bar will be replaced with the Google logo Assistant.
Google has long since started working on a replacement for the old voice search as assistant. Last year, the search giant replaced the old voice search on the Google Assistant in the corporate application. The company also introduced its own voice assistant in the Pixel launcher last year.
In addition, you can expect it to appear in the desktop version of the browser. In other words, «Corporation of good» tries to create a full ecosystem of their products using voice technology.
