Consumers love wearable gadgets: the world market is growing rapidly
A study conducted by International Data Corporation (IDC), says that the global market for wearable devices is growing at an accelerated pace.
The data presented take into account shipments of smart watches, fitness bands and activity trackers, as well as various headsets and wireless headphones.
In the fourth quarter of last year, the volume of the global market amounted to approximately 118,9 million units, was a record figure. Growth of supply in relation to the last quarter of 2018 were at the level of 82.3 %.
Undisputed market leader is Apple with 43.4 million shipped gadgets and a share of 36.5 % in the fourth quarter of 2019. In second place far behind is Xiaomi 12.8 million shipped devices and 10.8 % of the global market. Closes the top three Samsung, which is set for the quarter, 10.5 million gadgets, occupying 8.8% of the industry.
Annual shipments of wearable devices has increased almost two times (89,0 %), reaching 336,5 million units. In 2018, the market volume amounted to 178,0 million.
Major suppliers last year were Apple, Xiaomi, and Samsung with a share of 31.7 %, 12.4% and 9.2 per cent respectively.
It is also noted that the total weight shipped in 2019 gadgets headphone and headset had to 50.7 %. More of 20.6 % were a variety of fitness device. The share of smart watches is 27.5 %.
