lifecell named the most popular among its subscribers a tourist destination within a two-week period of winter holidays
lifecell researched the most popular tourist destinations in Ukraine and abroad from December 24, 2018 January 8, 2019 based on the collected this period of anonymized big data. In addition, it identified areas of Ukraine, whose residents were mostly traveling for the holidays, and also the most popular communication channels in the new year’s eve.
According to the research unit mining lifecell is the most popular among subscribers of the operator of the tourist destinations of Ukraine during the Christmas holidays were: Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk and Transcarpathian region. The number of tourists in Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk region has increased by a third, and in Zakarpattia ? twice as compared to November 2018-wow.
The most rapid growth in the number of travellers to Ukraine, was recorded in Luhansk (+43.7%), Kyiv (+32.4%), Ivano-Frankivsk (+28.9%), Kharkov (+25.4%) and Zaporizhia (+21%) compared to the movement of subscribers lifecell in November 2018.
As for international destinations, in the period from December 24, 2018-January 8, 2019-wow subscribers lifecell was in 185 countries around the world. Most of them were in Poland. The ten most popular countries also includes Russia, Germany, Egypt, Czech Republic, Turkey, Italy, Belarus, Moldova, and Romania. The lowest number of subscribers resided in the Solomon Islands, Tonga, Malawi and Bhutan.
The most popular tourist destinations during the winter holidays virtually unchanged compared with the 2017 year.
However, the preferences of Ukrainians regarding communication channels in the new year’s eve was somewhat different from last year. The share of traditional voice calls fell by almost 6% and the number of sent SMS messages ? 34%. In contrast, in the night from 31.12.18 on 01.01.19 subscribers lifecell on 710% more communicate in social networks and by more than 129% ? in messengers compared to the same period a year ago.
In particular, the use of the messenger BiP new year’s eve increased by 54%. 18 312 Ukrainians carried out 89 259 calls with BiP using BiP Out to other Telecom operators, where BiP is not installed. The total duration of their conversations ? 287 156 minutes. 46 403 users BiP sent 365 116 messages in the messenger.
