Samsung Electronics buys more than 10% of all semiconductor products manufactured in the world
Experts of the analytical company Gartner has identified the major buyers of semiconductor products by the end of 2017. The industry leader remains Samsung Electronics. Last year, the South Korean semiconductor manufacturer has purchased products in the amount 43,108 billion. This is 10.3% of the world market of these products. Note that compared to last year, purchases increased 37.2%.
In second place is Apple. The company also increased its purchases, although not as much as Samsung Electronics: 27.5%, up to 38,754 billion. Apple’s market share equal to 9.2%.
Third place with 3.7% is the company Dell. It is a year increased its purchases of 15.9% to 15,702 billion.
Fourth place belongs to Lenovo. The Chinese manufacturer compared to the previous year, increased purchases by 9.6% to 14,671 billion. This figure corresponds to 3.5% of the market.
The share of Huawei, closing the top five, equal to 3,4%. For the year, the company was spending on semiconductor products 14,259 billion USD, which is by 32.1% more than in 2016.
The ten largest consumers of semiconductor products also includes BBK (2.9 percent market share), HP (2.4 percent), Hewlett Packard Enterprise (1,7%), LG Electronics (1.6%) and Western Digital (1.5 percent). In total the representatives of the top ten purchasing more than 40% of all semiconductor products manufactured in the world.
The market of semiconductor products for the year increased by 22.2% from 343,510 to 419,720 billion.
