Samsung ousted Apple from the top manufacturers of processors for smartphones
Samsung manufactures many components for smartphones, including displays, memory chips, image sensors and processors, or system on a chip (SoC).
According to latest report from Counterpoint Research, the share of Samsung in the global SoC market for mobile devices in 2019 amounted to 14.1%. This allowed the South Korean manufacturer to displace Apple from the top manufacturers of processors for smartphones. The share of Apple in the market is equal to 13.1 per cent.
The first and the second places are occupied by Qualcomm and MediaTek, which owns 33.4% and 24.6% of the market respectively. It is noteworthy that among the five major manufacturers, only Samsung and Huawei showed an increase.
Samsung has Exynos SoC. They are used in smartphones, not only Samsung, but also companies Meizu and Vivo.
