Samsung will invest in plant and equipment for the production of panels, micro-LED
Reportedly network sources, the South Korean company Samsung Electronics intends in the first half of next year to invest significant funds in construction of plant and purchase equipment to start the production of the panel micro-LED. The report said that the tech giant has not yet decided on the size of future investments and production capacity of the factory.
Industry sources say that at the moment, Samsung is assessing the performance of South Korean and foreign equipment necessary to create panels of micro-LED. Therefore, the company shares his plans in this direction with partners, intending to begin investing in the direction in the first half of 2020.
«Samsung Electronics conducts testing and evaluates the quality of key equipment, as plans to invest heavily in its acquisition in the first half of next year», — said the representative of one of the equipment manufacturers.
«Samsung Electronics told us that it plans to invest in the purchase of equipment in the first half of next year. Currently we are waiting for Samsung as the company has not yet decided on the scale of future production», — said another representative of the equipment manufacturer.
It is expected that a final decision on the investment and scale of future production Samsung may be taken after the annual CES 2020, which will be held in the U.S. in January. Probably in the framework of this exhibition the company will present the specifications of the panels micro-LED, which will be commercially released in the future.
