The Ukrainians greeted each other with the holidays: calls 799 million, 60 million SMS and 2.4 thousand TB of traffic in the Kyivstar network
New Year and Christmas in 2018 subscribers used 2 times more Internet traffic and 10% less calls.
For the third year in a row the subscribers of the national Telecom operator Kyivstar prefer to congratulate your relatives and friends via mobile Internet. During two holidays of December 31 and January 1 – the amount of data traffic in the network reached 1177 TB, 147% more than last year. At the same time, 90% of the total data traffic was on 3G Kyivstar.
Traditionally, the maximum load on the network was observed in the first 30 minutes, 2018. 31 December 2017 and 1 January 2018 subscribers made more than 434 million calls, using 1.2 billion minutes, sent 33 million greeting SMS and MMS 355 thousand. In the same period last year, calls were 487 million, 43 million SMS and MMS 477 thousand. All systems and services Kyivstar, as usual, worked steadily.
In the first hour of this year the traffic of social networks is 23% of the total data traffic in the Kyivstar network. 40% of the traffic we had on the audio and more.
Interestingly, during the Christmas holidays the subscribers used the mobile Internet even more actively, than New year. So, 6-7 January 2018, the volume of data traffic in the Kyivstar network has reached 1236 TB. Christmas subscribers made 364 million calls with a total duration of 950 million minutes. The total amount of data traffic used by mobile subscribers in the Kyivstar network for the New Year and Christmas 2018, has reached 2.4 thousand TB. It is almost 200 years watching videos in HD quality.
Every year Kyivstar successfully cope with the holiday «peak» in advance of preparing the network to high loads. The specialists of the technical Directorate of the company paid special attention to the capacity of data transmission channels and the preparation of radio access networks. In addition, during the 2017 Kyivstar actively build the 3G network to subscribers using high speed data transmission. Now it covers an area of nearly 80% of the population of Ukraine.
