Vodafone in 2018: a record investment in the network and the most active Internet users
Vodafone has improved its financial performance during the 2018. Revenue in 2018 increased compared to 2017 by 8% and amounted to UAH 12.9 billion.
Vodafone has achieved significant growth in operating performance in 2018: OIBDA increased by 33.5% yoy and reached UAH 6.9 billion. OIBDA margin increased by 10.2 percentage points in comparison with the 2017 year — on-year to 53.8%. Revenue in 2018 decreased by 18.1% and amounted to UAH 1.8 bn, a reduction on the previous year due to the increase of costs due to active deployment of 4G networks and 3G.
The main reason for the increase in revenues, Vodafone is the increase in the number of data users and consumption of data services. Vodafone customers on the results of 2018 was the most active Internet users – average of date client Vodafone uses 3.2 GB of traffic per month. Last year, Vodafone customers began to use two times more traffic than a year earlier.
Active consumption stimulated the best rates that Vodafone has offered to 2018: tariff line Super Net with a large volume of Internet traffic for the customers of prepaid connection, the new tariffs for contract customers, as well as increased mobile Internet packages in the business rates of the company. The Vodafone tariffs are popular with subscribers and is one of the most affordable on the market, as evidenced by the lowest on the market ARPU — 55,7 UAH.
Consumption growth was also made possible by active expansion of 3G coverage and launch 4G at the end of the year 85% of the population of Ukraine could use the 3G connection Vodafone, and 45% of Ukrainians had access to the 4G services of Vodafone. The company’s investment in infrastructure development since the beginning of the construction of networks of high-speed mobile Internet amounted to UAH 21.6 billion.
Record market investments will ensure the technological leadership of Vodafone and assure the clients of the company, not only the smooth operation of mobile communication and data services, but also a platform to launch new technology-based services based on 4G technologies and products, the IoT solutions for SmartCity, big data Analytics, cloud services, innovative services based on Mobile ID, as well as FINTECH services.
